Hi all i have had a new comp built specs below i dont no if i was expecting too much but i thought i would be able to play high settings i cant even play medium without lag what do you think.
mobo k9n neo
ram 2gig 667
gc 7900gt xfx extreme edition
pro 3800+
running windows pro
320 gig hd

the standard stuff--update video, sound, and mobo drivers, defrag, make sure your psu is giving enough power to the video card, download speedfan or cpu-z and make sure the hardware you've got is running up to specification...etc.

yeah all of that stuff has been done and i use core centre i have also noticed that the screen is a bit blurry and i cant get it any better with the refresh rate.

So what is your actual framerate in-game? BTW, I play with a lot less than you've got, and I get excellent results (30-60 FPS in most situations, not bragging, just confirming that you should definitely be seeing better results.)

now on second thought confirm your power supply ratings... and that it's a decent power supply. while it's possible your graphics card could have a problem, it's usually more likely to have your ps give you problems first (especially if it isn't new... ppl like to make 'new builds' with their ps from their old systems.)

well i also think that i should have some good results as for the psu it is a 500w not sure on make it came with the case. All of the components are new none came from old comp. As for fps how do i find them out in game. I did have a thought my ram is installed in dim2 as i have a artic cooler fitted and it wont fit in dim1 as it touches the cooler could this be a problem.

While in the game hit the single-left quote <`> key (the one to the left of the '1' key) to get to the console.

type
renderer.drawfps 1

and hit <enter>.

You should see the FPS on the upper-left hand portion of the screen.

I did have a thought my ram is installed in dim2 as i have a artic cooler fitted and it wont fit in dim1 as it touches the cooler could this be a problem.

Are the 2 ram sticks installed in matching coloured slots. If not, there is a chance that this is your problem, cuz unless they are in the matching slots then it will NOT be running in dual channel.

To add to Danno, the the first number displayed will be your FPS, the second number is the time(in ms) between frames.

Good call Cloaker on defining what the numbers mean... I actually didn't know what the second meant lol.

It sounds like Pix that you have only 1 stick of ram installed... true? If so, you won't get DDR speeds until you have a pair.

yeah both ram are installed in same coulors i will check what fps i am getting and post back.
