    I need a new processor...

Hi Im looking for a new processor and I found these two

I need to know if my motherboard can handle these chips. Can some one help me and tell me how to identify if the motherboard is compatible with them the Chips are LGA 775 socket I know that but is my motherboard. I didnt build it so I dont know what it is. Would it say on the board if I opened up the case?

It may say on the motherboard what model it is. A better way is to use CPU-Z. http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-138.zip On the "cpu" tab it should show you what socket your current CPU is and on the "mainboard" tab it should show you all you need to know about your mobo.

Im not sure which dell mobo's support C2D's.

If you go for a core 2 Duo, i would reccomend that you go for a E6600 or higher. Anything lower will be a bottleneck to your system. I would go with newegg for hardware(just my preference).

Yea Id go with newegg too but the person thats buying it for me is in Europe and I dont think Newegg does Europe transactions or whatever it is

Yea im good to go. Right now im pretty sure the Pentium D 3.67 Ghz is really bottle necking my 7900s

the E6600 is good enough for your 7900.

If you are referring to the Dell in your tagline then yes, I believe it's motherboard is LGA775... but since it's a Dell (and obviously not that old) why not just call them and ask? Isn't that supposed to be one of the perks of owning a Dell?
