Not exactly a lag problem, but close to it.

    Hi All,
My Battlefield 2 has been acting up lately, this is the problem, whenever I'm walking/running, the character just keeps walking, even when I have taken my finger off the 'W' key. Also applies to when I'm firing, he just keeps firing non stop, even when I'm no longer clicking the left mouse button. If this is a lag problem, then its a strange form of lag, as lagging usually happens when a button is pressed then there is a delay in the response. Any clue?
    Thanks in advance,
    WN
ps I'm playing in single player mode. I have not tried it online though.

Because this is in Single Player, server difficulties is obviously out of the question!
Could we have your full hardware stats so we all know where to start, to help you with your problem.
    Cheers

To make the game run a bit smoother you could try to lower your in game settings a little.
You really need 2 GB of ram, and a better graphics card. But if you are trying to make do then lower your graphics settings and shaders and AntiAliasing. The game won't look as pretty but at least you would be able to play it.

Hmmm... Looking at the Specs, it all seems ok. :/
It probli is a Lag problem. But i don't know can be causing it.
Very weird that it was working fine a few days ago.
Have you changed anything either with the game or PC before this happened?

Shall have a look around the forums and report back soon.

Have you been doing some tweaks by any chance? Like the 'tweaks.com.' forget the addy lol
If you set BF2 to high priority in task manager that can happen.
              Just a thought :p

Lol, you know, its getting to a comical stage, the game is perfectly fine, except the character still runs in the direction when he was supposed to have ceased. He also runs sideways forever, and thus u can imagine my shooting style. Any helicopter that takes off, immediately crashes down for obvious reasons.
You know i have never been a game fan, until BF2 came along, that changed everything and this is the only game i will ever and only play.
I've tried all your suggestions guys, and still no luck. My player is still as spasticated as ever.

remove your BF2 folder from your My Documents. (Don't throw it away, just move it). Now start BF2 and let it recreate that folder. See if your guy runs around better. You will have to remember both your EA login name\password and your character login name\password

This will eliminate the variable that one of your control files became corrupted.

Ok, i deleted the folder, and i suspect there is a slight improvement, but nothing significant overall. However, this is a hopeful start.

A defrag would not be amis. Give it a go.

Ok, finished defraging, and it looks like the problem is still lingering

                          Is your keyboard USB?

Try switching ports on it if so.

No, its a laptop, and i tried disconnecting my usb mouse (which defeats the purpose of gameplay), and still no success. Looks like I'm running out of options here :)
