Re: cd key retreval
no, not possible. your cd key could once be found in the registry, but EA patched living cr4p out of that "defect/exploit" right away (instead of fixing the rednametagbug for ~12months). if you registered your game with EA, you can access your cd key via their website or EA link. if not, you can send them 1 of your BF2 install CD's and a money order for $10 (to cover the cost of the CDkey encryption team's next round of golf) and they will mail you a new key.
ea's website has details. -

I found the boostard under my desk drawer.Originally posted by Munk_Madnessso you fixed your problem with the cd key there mega?
I passed judgment on wifey's cleaning skills too soon; should have given her the benefit of the doubt/undoubt. :)
Been playing for the last couple of weeks.
huzzah/hoo-yah/err/hup!
(although i'm ashamed to say i've been point hookering as support/medic on the s!k server in order to get my last two unlocks. just can't beat ~60 points for a 15-20 minute round, even got a gold star* with an 88 point round earlier today. planning on downloading and checking out POE again after that.)
* not really sure why i care about e-gold stars.
edit: still going to build that p180/sata raid0 config on MLK day. will see how it goes. if everything goes well, i may (finally) update my website www.geneactive.com with a how-to for slipstreaming native raid0 support. if i don't post something there soon, godaddy.com may rescind my free webhosting deal.Comment

Re: cd key retreval
yeah, sorry. pretty sure the unencrypted cd key was patched out with 1.03, but it might have been 1.1 or 1.12. 1.3 is too late. they will mail you a new key for $10, but i'm not sure if it's worth it for a 18 month old game. i was ticked off at EA and playing oblivion (and far cry, for my fps fix) for quite about a month while my bf2 cdkey was missing. i bought bf2, sf, ef, and af, so i would've been out almost $100 if i didn't find it/get it replaced.
if i buy an EA game--ever, ever--again, i will probably go ahead and register it. i don't think it's really any of their business where i live and what my email address/birthday is, but registering makes it very easy to get a new cd key because that information is stored under your user login to EA's support site and EA link.
good luck.Comment

Re: cd key retreval
Benefit of registering, reiterated, in English, again: your CD KEY is maintained off site and immediately, electronically accessible to you. For folks that might lose the cd key (realize this would never, ever, ever happen to you), this is a way to keep your cd key accessible in perpetuity, regardless how careless one is with one's little forking instruction pamphlet.Originally posted by Night735Register a game product? Other ways abound, including writing it down, and mailing it to your sister-in-law's house, care of The Dog, or any of a thousand other permutations of keeping it somewhere else.Comment

Silly rabbit. Spelling is for the grownups
and the tR1kz are for kids.
Glad you found your disk Mega. I'd like to find you in game someday (preferrably on the same team).
