2gb DDR2-667 CL4 vs. DDR2-800 CL4 RAM

Is there much of a performance difference between these 2 types of RAM? I want to know if it's justified spending NZ$100 (US$70) more for 2GB DDR2-800 CL4.

BTW, the RAM will be for a new Vista gaming rig I'm building (just have to wait for Vista to come out), and can't decide whether I should get 2gb or 4gb yet... here are the other system specs:

Edit: I don't plan to overclock any of these components.

If you dont plan to overclock then it would be worth your money to just go for the DDR667

well i use the CL4 stuff and i must say its worth its money. its quick and if you can afford it get it!

You can Overclock DDR2 667 to DDR2 800, without changing the voltage. I don't think it makes that much difference though.

You should loosen the timings a bit if your going to OC it.

Ok thanks, looks like I'll go with the DDR-667 CL4 RAM. I am going to purchase 2 of the G.Skill 2gb Kits (model no. F2-5400PHU2-2GBLA ), which is a total of 4 1gb modules, and will run them in dual channel.

From what I've read on the net, Vista uses a lot of ram, and quite often I'm running Azureus in the background while playing BF2 (I know, isn't a good idea but I restrict the speed to 25% of my bandwidth, and I don't experience any lag at all). I have a lot of background apps running and wanted to be on the safe side, unless there will be so much to spare with 2gb it REALLY isn't neccessary.

Go right ahead, wish I could have 4GB... Funny how in 10-15 years time 128GB will either be the norm, or be considered as pathetic as having 128MB is now (assuming it develops at the same rate, of course).
