No, 2mb cache is bad, 4mb of cache is good. You got a lot better, more stable overclocking with more cache.

It seems like you really hate the e6300.....

i also read that the 2 mb cache c2d's actually overclock better than the 4 mb models.

That is not true, the E6600 overclocks the best out of the C2D's.

i would get just 7600GT for now, and not waiste any extra but save for next years Dx10 cards...specially R600 :)

I've got that video card in my rig and it rocks. Save the $200 it would cost for an 8800. I run a C2D 6400 and have no issues with it, does everything I ask of it. Go with 2gb RAM and you will be ready for just about anything.

My friend had the exact same case, and it scremed "TACKY" to me. I have the Antec Nine Hundred which has the blue neon light which seems to be what is appealing it to you.

Its a bit more expensive but it is quality.

I dont care for the lights n stuff really... Im just trying to put popularity and price together to find a good one.

Because im buying a new hard drive, how do I use my Windows from my old comp on the new one? I have a sticker on my case that has a bar code and a product key on it. Would using this key be pretty self explanatory? But, then what would hapen to my old files?

Are you going to be overclocking? If you are Not, then i would suggest to go down to DDR 667 to save money. The only point in getting DDR 800 would be to overclock.

If your old pc was a commercial build, the OEM xp serial number/install disk may be keyed to the components. You'll know for certain when you put the disk in whether it will work or not. :)

There are some ways to...erm...oops...I think there was something in the forum terms of use that prohibit discussing circumventing...err...that prohibit me from continuing that thought.

If you're in school, check with your university bookstore. Mine sells an OEM copy of xp via the MS licensing program for $32.

What you read was wrong. The E6600 series is one of the best overclocking CPUs for Conroe. The bigger L2 cache means that more instructions can be queued up for the CPU, thus, making an overclock more effective. You will be able to greater utilize an overclocked CPU with a bigger L2 cache.

If your university bookstore sells them, they usually go for ~$30-$40, and are just like a regular XP disk except they come in a just a plain plastic bag, and they usually make you sign a paper saying you aren't going to sell it. That would be the easiest way to do it, if your compaq restore CD refuses to load XP onto a new computer.

I think it was more in terms of the percent of the overclock of the 2 mb cache was higher than the 4 mb, like the e6300 could over clock twice as high as it was originally and the 4 mb cache models couldnt overclock twice their stock speeds.

Use the copy of Windows that came with the computer originally. When you format (Cos you will, XP stuggles with drivers etc... when you change a lot of the hardware) you probably will be unable to use the same CD-Key again.

Don't do the following:

Ring up the Windows Xp automated Xp helpline, say your XP key doesn't work.

Say it came preinstallled

Say you have made significant hardware changes to the computer

Because one of the original parts was faulty

recieve new XP activation code

For a good case, you might want to check out the Jeantech Phong 2. Its as cheap as chips but is recommended by custom PC as the "best of Budget"

You all Say 939 is dead, but the AMD FX62 (which) is dual core and AM2 socket is still slower at BF2 then the FX60 which is single core and a 939. I would not recommend Intel dual core....but if you want a beast go with the intel quad core CPU (the only Intel CPU I currently pick over AMD).
