    Wide TFT vs HDTV

    Hi there,

I am undecided as whether to get a wide scrn tft or a HDTV for chrisy.

    Pro's & Con's

The TFT runs at higher resolution
The TFT is a computer monitor
The HDTV has better contrast ratio
    The HDTV is bigger
The HDTV is a TV & monitor all in one

Is it worth sacrificing some detail in my games for the functionality of the TV or will I be wasting my new 7900gs as the HDTV will not display 1280 & 1024 or any decent res?

    Your thoughts.....

Depends on the tv, true hdtv (1080 lines from bottom to top) might not be so bad, but 720/768 lines on a cheap hdready would be a bit limiting for a pc, so to get any real idea you need to post some spec of the tv you are thinking of, at least the resolution.

And bigger physically, with fewer lines means larger blocky pixels, its called dot pitch, or pixel pitch (the distance between the 2 centers of pixels side by side) - smaller means a finer picture.

For computer games, it's called aliasing

Do you ever want to be able to read text on it? I haven't found an HDTV that doesn't blur the hell out of text on the web or even in-game while acting as a PC monitor.
