nah ill just buy this rig instead...not good with building pc's lol...the one i have now is a built one but had to spend like $300 to fix it when it goofs up...at leaat with the XPS i could have someone come to my house and fix it:p
i was just wondering are these better pc's than the dimensions??? i could get one for like $1000 bucks with these specs:

still think you'd be left wanting a decent motherboard, which erases the benefit of getting the rest of the components for a fairly competitive price. you might also have to buy another (or maybe just swap with your current?) power supply, depending on the rating of the one in the dell.
p.s.--this is purely anecdotal, but there have been quite a few dellerz (fellows with dells, get it? gosh, i kill me sometimes:) ) who have posted here with heating issues when they plopped high-end gpu's into their boxes.
are their mobo's bad??..also dell just came out with the cool and quiet case...with the PSU thing, i dont have to switch it out because on their forums some guy is running a 7950GTKO on the 375 watt DELL PSU..but i will switch it out to be on the safe side
we're a "dell university", and i "tend to" about 12 pc's for my department as a part of (apparently) my graduate education. 2 dells in two years have gone milk-duds up due to mobo issues.
again, that's anecdotal, and anyhow, they were all mid-end p4's (3.0 Northwood for most) and dell may have gotten improved suppliers since then.
I newegged a pc with better specs (ddr800 and a real :) pc case) than that dell for $1078 (including a $270 video card, which you obviously don't need) over here:

The $50 rebate is over on the case; I think the rest of the rebates knock off $40 or $60.
edit: looking over that e-build, since you don't need the gpu, you could get two 250gb hd's, another optical drive, and some aftermarket cooling for your gpu/cpu for less (STILL) than the grand you'd drop on the dell.
i dont want a rig with that much...i dont even want to go SLI atm...this XPS comes with a 1 year warranty already with it and that includes at home repair and replacement of parts for free...i have had bad experience with DIY pc's...my old X850XT PE pretty much melted my mobo and put me $500 in the whole:cry:
the rig i have now is great i could get 110fps in BF2...im just looking to go intel instead of AMD
building your own PC isn't always a picnic. I've build my share and each new one usually presents a challenge. The last one was a major education regarding slipstreaming the updates into an XP install (Yes, I own XP) because the old vanilla install doesn't recognize Sata in combination with PCI-E.
Go prebuilt unless you have a bud who is good with it. Doesn't take much to learn how, except to find your first teacher.
Build a PC. But this time round, have Google, a printer and a good mind with you. Come on, you get a BETTER computer for CHEAPER. Dell loves proprietary crap, and I got raped up the arse cos of it. Thankfully now I haven't a trace of that abomination on my PC.
first off, having a quick glance over the following posts your abit of a dell fan boy (god luck with that relationship) as all dell does is take your money build you a pc out of card board and bite you in the *** when you need help or any form of service.
You could build a nice machine for ur self and if you need help get my msn or someone on here and we'll be happy to help and we'll do it for free as well lol!!!
I recommend for a core duo/ nvidia machine. And if you ask nicely we'll build a spec sheet for you
