Should I go widescreen?

I'm thinking about going to a 19" widescreen (all I have room for in my desk). The question is...does the game support widescreen or will it stretch out the images or do a straight up 4:3 with black bars on both sides?

OK, I found some other threads on this but did the 1.41 patch do anything to help?

I just found myself in the same position, having bought myself my first LCD monitor.

You can force widescreen by changing the properties in the shortcut on your desktop for a 19" 1440x900 widescreen monitor to make it look fine

it will most likely say :

"c:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

and you want to add an extra to the end :

+szx 1440 +szy 900 +fov 1.08

so it reads as such :

"c:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900 +fov 1.08

check this screenshot out to make sure you know where you are changing the target location string

i have 2 widescreens and i love them. 19 and 20.1 inch.

I just bought a 19" widescreen today and it works FLAWLESSLY!

It's just terrificly awesome :P

OK, when I get home today my 19" WS will be waiting for me. Any tips for 1680x1050 resolution monitors?

if you are getting a 19" I hope that it supports that rez.

Some of the models do not.

It will give you a 1400x1050 resolution option.
It works great.

Yeah, the Samsung I got is native at that resolution. I'll give it a go at that and if it looks bleh I'll go down to 1400.

Well, I changed the command line in the shortcut to the right resolution and it started right up. It looks pretty damn good too; I had my best rounds ever last night with the new screen.
