since i might build my next rig i was wondering if there is a site i cud get an os for like $30???i heard people on this forum get them really cheap so any ideas???

well linux distros like ubuntu are always free, but im guessing for gaming you are going to want XP (or vista). I saw a xp-home upgrade cd recently for $29 after rebate (with a good chance of getting the vista-basic cd for $10 more). the deal is over and would of required you already had a previous windows cd to use the upgrade. you could try looking at craigslist, ive seen some there. buyer beware.

Are you in college? Many universities participate in Window$ licensing program, in which the university buys a box full of XP cd's and sells them to students for a nominal fee (i.e., $28 for XP PRO, $38 for Office 2003 though my school).

Only problem with mine is that they are all XP-pre SP1, so the next time I install I need to slipstream in order to get all the space on HD recognized.
