im pretty sure it has been proven that ddr2 ram does not have a big enough performance increase to substitute its higher price.

And plus, for people that already have nice ddr ram, they dont want to buy new ram that is only going to be a very slight bit faster.

also, ddr is good enough for me...

For you, that is.
You're running on a low end system which wouldn't get many performance boosts from DDR2.
A system with say an e6600, 8800GTX, 2GB RAM and other high end parts would be a waste if that 2 gig was low performance DDR.
