hello guys, as for you guys that have been following up with my build, you will know that i have a:

sapphire radeon x800 gto AGP
1.512gb of RAM [ DDR pc3200 ]
and 1.91 single core AMD processor, but now its running on 1.14 ghz thanks to some mobo issues.

so ive decided to upgrade my processor, and in order to do that i found this.

but here is my problem......im still stuck on which processor to get.......
it's between these two and please keep in my mind im not planning on upgrading my processor after this or do anything to it.

the Core 2 Duo is faster
and make sure you buy with a 2MB L2 Cache

why go with a micro-atx board? Also the core 2 duo is the faster of the two processors. Drop the sound card and get better ram/ motherboard. I am a big fan of Asus motherboards, but that is just me.

On a side note, what is your power supply rated at? And, rather than getting a 2.1 sound system (my bud has the same one, its kicks ***) get a decent pair of phones and a raptor drive.

also for the dual channel RAM that comes on the mobo do i need to have dual channel RAM??? or can i just use my regualar single channel?

I'm not crazy about the board, but i can't seem to find much better that still uses agp. Any chance about upgrading to pci express?

1.512 gb is actually 1548.288mb, so I think you mean 1.5gb of ram.
C2D is much faster, although don't go retail.
Save yourself some bucks and get the OEM version with an aftermarket cooler (scythe katana) and overclock that baby past x6800 standards.

You will need new DDR2 ram with a C2D.

Not if you get a mobo that supports ddr ram. Thats what I'm doing.

In this day in age, why would anyone want DDR RAM? DDR2 is faster and newer.
