    Re: bios flashing

I was thinking about flashing BIOS on my X850XT to the PE version, but I am clueless on flashing BIOS on a vid. card. How do you go about doing this?

        Re: bios flashing

its sortof complicated and dangerous which is why id go to some forums like mvtech to ask there..but basically

get a floppy disk, reformat it to a "boot up" disk (right click - > format)
download nvflash (im using like version 4.42, and copy all of its files onto the floppy
then at the mvtech site, u can download bioses, and take that and copy it onto the floppy (be sure to rename the bios to like ati.rom for easier use)
then leave ur flopping ur the drive and reboot and ull load ur floppy and then when its blinkling like A:/, type "NVFLASH -b backup.rom" to make a backup in case all else fails, and then after that finishes, type "NVFLASH -p -u -2 xxx.rom" where xxx is the name of the bios u downloaded/renamed" and then it will ask u to type "YES" and then itll finish and then just shut off the power

if u get a blank screen for a while, then ur card prob doesnt like the bios so ull have to blind flash the bios where u type in the stuff w/o the monitor

Or instead of taking the risk of using a different cards bios, you could have used Nibitor,

          and modded it yourself.

                Re: bios flashing

                hey new problem,

i can successfully flash the 6800gt to ultra, but when i try to play a game like counter-strike source, the instant i like choose a team, my whole screen freezes up in weird diff colors. its like artifacts, but the whole screen is covered by them and i cant see anything else

so i used nibitor to try to modify the bios, and after switching hte voltage from 1.4v to 1.3v, no more problems, but i want to try to get it on the 1.4v, and idk why it wont let me w/o problems

                btw i have a 400w psu
