New Case....

[Eternal-Souljah]

Need a new case my choices were out of:

Antec Nine Hundred
Lian Li PC-7
Thermaltake Armor JR
Thermaltake Soprano

Those cases. What I want from a case:

Good dust preventation
cool
stylish
good material
solid build
not noisey

I'd buy the Antec 900 but my only worries are:

Heavy dust
power supply cables not long enough (as I've heard)
Graphics card DVI doesn't fit through too small?

My Specs:

Intel P4 3.4GHZ X2 with h/t
Geforce 7900 GTX 512MB
2 GB RAM
2X250GB HD's (500 GB Total)
520 W OCZ Modstream power supply (Modular cables)

after looking at all those case's on overclockers.co.uk only the Antec has reviews and even then they say its pretty good you would just need a bag of cable ties

Nah I have modular cables, so theres no cable mess at all:

Lian-Li makes great quality cases, but lately I've been impressed by the Antec lines. I've got an Sonata I (original included 380W psu is still running like a champ) that had some dust problems. I got some thin, washable, black air filters and placed them anywhere air could enter.

Now, no dust, and case temps did not budge one iota.

I'd go with the antec, with a little clever air filtering. :)

Dust problems are usually caused by negative pressure within the case, sometimes they can be resolved by adding extra intake fans to the case. If you have one 80mm fan sucking in air at the front of the case and one 80mm fan sucking air out of the back of the case at the same speed you will have balanced air flow and pressure, but if you take into account the PSU drawing air out of the case you end up with a low pressure situation. This pressure difference will try to balance itself by drawing air through any available gap, usually between and through optical and floppy drives and around PCI backing plates. Most fans are rated by the amount of air they move in Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) so if you can balance out the amount of air moving in and out of the case by using various fan or variable speed models you can eliminate a lot of dust problems.
