I own the X800 pro pci-express and it's a decent card, but old technology. Consider upgrading to a different model if at all possible.

Yeah. AGP v. PCI-E makes a diff.

If it helps, I've got an AGP x800xt All-In-Wonder with an aftermarket cooler, and I can o'c it to a stable 545mhz core and 580mhz (1160mhz effective) memory. I'm slobbering for when the 7900's (or x1900's) start to have heavy discounts.

Personally, I think they're great cards. I've had mine for two years now, still going strong and pushing BF2 (well, until I lost my CD KEY this week) at 1280x1024 and mostly high, 2xAA, dynamic shadows off and dynamic light to low.

The important thing to remember is bandwidth, pipelines, and frequency (and then read the reviews to make sure they aren't pure b.s.!). You want at least 16 pipelines, you want a 256-bit interface, and you want upwards of at least 500mhz core/500mhz (1000mhz) effective clock for a "wow" gaming experience, in my experience.

you want such a great deal on a 7600gs or x800gto that you'll be happier with the good deal than the 10-15 fps you might be missing with the next higher step card. :)
