i just bought a gateway with beautiful specs a couple weeks ago...well it died last night and im back to my old rig..it wasnt even worth the upgrade im getting the same performance...i marched into circuit city and said u cud kiss my a$$ got my money back and bought a 19''lcd WS monitor and have enough money left for the PS3..:p I WILL NEVER BY PREBUILT AGAIN!!!

What were the specs of it? There was this deal for a gateway, 4200+, 21" WS LCD, 2 gigs ram, for only 899 CDN. BOught thata nd its worked fine with my old x800xl.

that was my pc lol... anyways wasnt even worth it..i still get 70-95 fps in this game so all i really need to do to make it kickass is buy another 512 and ill be set..

Gateway pushes there North American service department, you should have called them and talked to someone that, "speaks your language."

Always build your own. You know what parts you are getting, and you will 99.9999999999999999% of the get a much better bang for your buck.

not true, my other computer is a compaq that I have added parts to it, such as video card (it had integrated gfx), more memory, etc. Just because something is integrated doesn't mean that it can't be disabled.

I bought a prebuilt for 200 with 512 mb, xp, case, power supply, dvd burner, and other software and now im upgrading the processor, video card, and more memory. 200 is like the price of xp so you cant beat that....

You can get really great deals on pre-built pc's. And a Pentium D 805 pulled from an HP fetches almost as much on ebay as one still in the shrink wrap. In other words, I've bought a PC from the store, "stolen" the parts I like for my computer, and then put the rest of the components on Ebay.

Oh, and if you figure in some of the better rebates going on, and are willing to spend 2 hours on the phone over a couple of months yelling at people, then the deal only gets sweeter.

One more bonus--you keep the O/S.

i got someone to build my computer for me a few years ago, after heaps of problems and deciding that he was just a rip off dodgy bastard i started rebuilding my comp myself, now the only origional thing left is the tower and its running great. will never again buy a premade or get anyone else to make one for me
