jerky with full shadows on (altho 80+fps)

Hi, I have x1900xtx 512 and when running bf2 at 1600x1200 with max settings except AA is at x4 and shadows are low, it's really smooth.
When I enable full shadows however, it still runs at 80+ fps but seems pretty jerky, especially in 1st few secs and pausing every so often in game.
I have latest ATI drivers and 2gb ram.

My mate has a 7800gtx (256mb) and he says he has everything maxed out and altho getting only 50-60 fps runs as smooth as.

Are nvidias just better at handling the shadows, is there a particular ATI driver revision that's better than latest etc?

I can't really see why getting 80+ fps doesn't result in fully smooth gameplay.

    Spec
    AMD x2 4200 (at 2400mhz)
    2GB OCZ Plat
    150GB raptor 10k
    x1900xtx
    x-fi music

Well i was going to say, maybe memory issue. But you have 2 gigs. I would try different drivers for the video card, and also run memtest on your memory.

      you have updated drivers right?
btw papi memory wouldnt effect the video card.

Try disabling Catalyst AI in the control panel. It should be on standard for default.

You should try clearing your shaders folder before changeing the shadows option. This way your shaders will be optimised. But your already running at 1600x1200 with everything maxed what diff is hi or lo shadows gonna make.

Drivers need to be updated, and make sure there are no programs that negativly interacts with the graphics card.

Memory could easily cause the problems he is having if he had 1Gig or less. Textures and stuff would overflow onto the pagefile causing those ocassional snags. This shouldn't be a problem with 2GB though.
