OK my sisters comp isnt even booting on anymore so i was wondering what u guys may think it is,i think its a psu failure as she leaves it on 24/7 ,its only a 300 watt psu so i was wondering if it crapped itself out.

they can crap themselves out anyway, but if there is no power at all, i'd say its more than likely the PSU, you can get a replacement 300W for about €30. only problem is that sometimes the PSU can take out the motherboard aswell, welll actually is the motherboard that causes the failure and takes out the PSU, but still, could be both gone on ya, doesn't matter about her leaving it on 24/7, they are designed for constant use. if it turns on but does nothing, ie, fans spinning, lLED's come on, but nothing on screen, more than likely both PSU and motherboard.
if its just not booting into windows, try running a had drive diagnostic like seatools -

Check to see if your motherboard has an LED light on it. It should be on if your power supply switch is to the "on" position regardless of what state your computer is in. If it is off, then it could be either your power switch is in the off position, most likely not, or something is wrong with your power supply or motherboard. Also, check for faulty connections.Comment

It could very well be a fried MOBO. Most PSU's that come with over-the-counter PC's are fairly reliable.
As an aside, I actually had a PSU plug that wasn't seating well in the PSU. It was loose, and it would somehow transmit current down the I/O panel...which it did...and I heard and saw sparks...right before having to replace my MOBO.
PSU's are pretty reliable these days. MOBO's get fried like teenagers get pregnant, however.Comment

Or, swap it out with the PSU from your PC. That should give you a yes or no without having to...er..."borrow" one from Best Buy.Originally posted by minicoop503

i used to have a computer that wouldnt boot, pushed the power button then left it for about 5 mins then pushed it again to turn it off then one more time and presto it booted upComment

Don't even bother doing anything if it's a girls computer. It's probably got girl germs all over it, as well as a habit of going mental once a month. I'd wash my hands right now if u haven't allready. Stick with the boys computer, I say, let the women deal with there own problems.Comment
