I plan on building this new computer... Advice/suggestions please?

OK so I have been delaying and delaying on updating my system. I have the awesome 24" Dell widescreen monitor and am getting about 15fps avg in the 2142 Titans and 25fps avg in BF2 at all low settings with 1600x1050 resolution (lower looks crap on the 24"). It is time to ditch my socket 478 3Ghz P4 and the X850XT PE (a terrible purchase on my part to extend my AGP life another year). Now that the 8800 came out today it is time to pull the trigger!

Here is what I plan to purchase in the next week:
Evga or XFX 8800GTX (XFX is $50 cheaper... is it any worse ?)
Evga 680i SLI Motherboard (Should I wait for another boardmaker to do 680i?)
Core 2 Duo E6600 (I am considering the E6700 but it may just not be worth it)
Antec 900 Case (WILL THE 8800GTX FIT????)
    Some 700+W PSU
    Some 10,000rpm 150Gb HD
Memory??? I am not sure yet. No more than $350 for 2GB but I want to have lots of overclock headroom.

Thanks for any advice. I haven't built a computer since my socket 478 that I am replacing.

I dont know what your issue is, but I get 60-80fps and it only drops to around 50fps when explosions and blinding firefights are occuring, which usually kills you anyway.

Ya ur pc sounds great, i'd wait for the fastest vc to come out which is the 8800GTX, its hella expensive but i garentee you that bf2 on max with no lag and like 10,000 fps.

Well in BF2 im acutally running at the 1680X1050 resolutions with stuff mostly on medium... But if you are getting 60-80 then you must be running at some pretty low resolution with no AA and low settings then maybe???

Well no, 1280x1024 @75 refresh, all high, shadows/dynamic light low, and 4x aa.

You are both wrong, the human eye can see over 200FPS. There's no way to measure exatcly how many, not yet anyways.

The point is that 60fps is damn smooth anyway :)

The XFX card does not have a warranty that covers overclocking like eVGA, but pretty much all 8800gtx's are overclocking like crap anyway. The gts's, on the other hand, are doing pretty well.

That eVGA motherboard is very nice, and really good at overclocking

I'd go with the e6600, because it seems to me that all C2D's tend to max out around 3.6ghz on air.

If you want to save some money, I'd just get a Seagate 7200.10 series harddrive and skip the Raptor. It's almost as fast, and the GB/dollar ratio is much, much better. The 320gb one has the best GB/price ratio in the 7200.10 series.

lol, DDR2 prices seem really high now, but http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231065 is really nice at overclocking. It was able to go over 1000mhz in an Anandtech review
