Well, this is free advice presented below. Because I do not want to enter a contract with you. Mainly cause you will not likely pay nor do I assume responiblity if your computer(s) malfunction(s) under statement(s) I may impose. Thus seek your awnser in these easy self help step(s).

1.
Check your refresh rate and resolution, and adjust if needed. My settings are as discribed (1028x768 @ 85Hz)

2.
Tweak Windows. You can find guids for that anywhere.

3.
Clean physical compont(s) of your system. Cause for overheating from poorly engineered thermal reduction device(s) may be cause of heating issue(s).



On a side note.... Who invented the usage of the (s)?

well, i didn't add the sound card, but installed the audio drivers for my mobo which has sound. problem is back. what does this mean?

you could be having a Chipset or CPU problem. Because both the on-board and SB card have to go through the chipset to communicate with the CPU. First thing i would try would be to put your CPU on a computer that you know is working in bf2. If you have the same problem bingo. if not put a known good CPU on you mobo and test again.. What mother board are you running anyway. brand and model. Hope this helps. Also make sure to run a memory test this will also test you CPU since you have and AMD and the memory controller is on the CPU.

Well if I read your post right your only prob is side to side with the mouse. So I would crank up your mouse resolution, acceration & speed up as high as you can stand. Then turn down your ingame mouse sensativity option. This will give you the smoothest mouse movements.

Also do you have a CRT monitor or LCD and if the latter what is its responce time.

hmm try this:

if ur playing on a hz other than 60hz try this
navigate to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Settings and double click on videodefault.con and change the renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0 to renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1

uninstall ur video card, run drivercleaner and i would try 83.90 drivers from xtreme-g.

download coolbits and then open up ur video card control panel and look for extra direct3d settings and set the "max frames prerender" to 0 instead of 3

Hmm.. what happens if you uninstall all sound drivers you installed (thoroughly), disable all onboard sound devices in the BIOS. Then put the SB sound back in, install drivers then try it.

dude, you might get the $20. i disabled realtek audio in my bios and viola! game works again. still, i have no sound, but i restarted the computer a few times just to make sure it's semi-stable. now we need to get sound working again. think i should try installing sb again? DAMMIT NVIDIA!!! WHY ALL THESE PROBLEMS!!!

sry, i'll keep you posted, and if i can get everything stable and running for a few days, i want you to start a new thread "SERIOUSTURTLE PAID ME $20". of course, only post it after you get it...:)

okay, ran bunch of tests this morning. i need to dump video settings before i play, so that the video "optimizes." when optimizing, it sticks on 62% for about a minute, then finishes. only works with single player. multiplayer, tried all the same stuff, can't get the smoothness. whats the difference btw the two that single is smooth and multi isn't?

u should really try adding on a nother gig of ram. i had 1 gig and it would chop. i added a second gig and the game was smooth as silk

There's more possibilities here...

1. The known nForce 4 bug: update your BIOS and download latest drivers.

2. Dual cpu timing anomalies: Download the AMD XP driver.

Also try using only one cpu for BF2, "turn off" one of your dual core processors. CTRL/ALT/DELETE, find BF2.exe, right click, choose 'set affinity' from menu, uncheck one of the CPU check boxes.

3. Hardware vs. software sound acceleration: try changing between them in BF2 options menu.

4. Bad connection to the server, use netpeeker to check your connection itself is smooth and not stuttering http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dlnetpeeker.html

Although more ram helps everything, I don't believe it will fix this problem.
