Antivirus taking up 30gigs?

I was cleaning up some of my files yesterday, and found that my anti virus program was using 30 gigs of space! I am using Trendmicro Pc-Cillin Internet Security 2006. I have this on another computer and it takes up around 300mb, so there is probably something wrong.

Take a look at the size of those files




What do you think they are? Virus updates or something? If no one has a better idea i think I am going to just reinstall it.

It could be a massive quarantine folder? Unlikely though.

Try sorting those columns by date and see if there is some kind of pattern to when they were created.

For example, if you have files being created at the exact time each day, it may be a log of some sort that reports all the files that were scanned.

And no. Any current program should not take up 30GB - especially not an AV.

I would also recommend searching the company's web site and/or Google search for similar problems.

Some virus programs (Specifically Norton) keeps track of installs and many other miniscule things that after a time turn into major storage. It's probably similar to that. If you have good self control about not opening up questionable files, switch to AVG. It's free and it sped up my system quite a bit over Norton.

Problem Solved, I just reinstalled and deleted all the big files and its fine now, feel free to close.

Thats weird that it would happen. Over time make dure that it deosnt happen again.

Good god i have never seen that before, iv also never heard of your AV program, im using norton 2006 and it works just great, doesnt ever effect game play or anything.
