Hello, I'm contemplating getting Battlefield 2 for christmas, I was searching for some background information on it (even stumbling on a hilarious video named "Mine") and found this website.

I was just wondering how the multiplayer function works....are there many people whom play or is this rather a dead theme?

Welcome to the forums,,

there are still people who play BF2, even tho its a bit buggy its still quite fun, multiplayer you would just select a server and join it playing against people from around the globe :)

Do I need specifically high computer specs to play?

I have:

1024 RAM
128 MB GeForce 5500 Graphics Card
Plenty of space on the hard drive....

Is that good enough or do I need to upgrade?

yea you need to upgrade your graphics card, with that one you cant even play it (even on low)

I have searched on Youtube and have found videos of a multiplayer session, with people laughing and discussing as they play. Is this an internal function or is it simply done through Skype or MSN?


Plus, what kind of graphics card are we talking about for playing BF2 on a decent setting?

I dunno about graphics cards, not into hardware lol

but, in BF2 there is VOiP, which is Squad based chat, where your can chat with ure squad mates with a push of a button, the squad leader can talk to the commander, and the squad leader only. its very very very useful.

You can always use Teamspeak and Ventrilo, if you dont know these programs, i suggest you ignore this sentence, cos they are hard to use (IMO), due to key overlapping and stuff, BF2 uses a lot of keyboard so yeah... u get the point

Everyone here uses multiplayer, cos if they have stats, then they have played multiplayer. BF2 is fun only due to its multiplayer, it is a multiplayer game, cos the single player with bots is pointless after you play with other people.

(OT) IMO they should have made missions and stuff...

Lol, mine is a pentium M 2.0 Ghz processor..

I run my BF2 on low low low, with a x700 mobility radeon, and its not that bad, i can even run BF2142 with it, but its a laptop, so i have no idea what the equivilant for a computer is.. sorry.
