    Reinstalling Windows

I want to get rid of all the junk that came with my computer when I bought it so I'm thinking of reinstalling windows. The only problem I have is that I really do NOT feel like reinstalling everything etc... Is there a way to make a cd or something that you can just pop in and it restores it to how you had it but just the basic things like drivers etc? Or is that called a recovery disk? lol. (Which I had to use one time but it didnt work!!!)

    Thanks

If your computer is like a Dell(meaning made by a company) no there isn't. You could try to find the cd for the OS that came with it, and install is using the key on the sticker of the pc. But it would be blank. And you would have to reinstall everything.

The recovery cd will make your computer look just like the first time you turn it on.

Hmm. I do have a windows xp disc for my other computer. My dad said he had some program called norton ghost which people at his work use to back up stuff and then they can somehow just reinstall the drivers and programs and users. I guess I'll just have to reinstall everything if there is no way to do it though.

Well could you be more specific minicoop503. If you could give us information about the following things:

          - What company or maybe you made the PC?
          - Got any backup disks?
          - What have you tried?

Would help a lot. I'm hoping I can help you :)

I know a lot about that now.. Dell's shipped after July 2004 in Europe in US it's Begin 2005. Have a restore on it by pressing CTRL+F11 it on the bootup with the blue-beam above with dell in it / dell logo at the beginning. I made a topic but I had to do this all by myself and it worked

Just install everythign from the begining. It does not hurt anyways, windows get a refresh, and you get to put just what you want on the computer.
