Try downloading the new 1.4 patch, patching it, then see if it works. As with most other problems in BF2 you could also try uninstalling and reinstalling :p. Again, check the your computers specs.
BTW it is an official disk, not a copy/cracked one is it?Comment

Patching is an update to the game, provided by the people who made it. You need it to play the game in ranked servers.
Download the new patch Here.
To see specs click Start, click Run, type dxdiag , and then click OK. I thinkComment

What are your specs dude? I'm assuming someone who doesn't know what "patching" is may also not have a graphics card capable of running the game.Comment

You dont have the system requirements to run the game. You need atleast 512mb of RAM and better graphics cardComment

Onboard graphics are not suitable, you need a video add-in card, that is assuming you have an AGP socket to plug it into in your PC (its a brown socket between the CPU heatsink and all the white sockets...no brown socket = no bf2).
And you need to get a half decent vid card, a cheapazz one will not do. And at LEAST 512MB of ram, preferably 2GB but 1GB will do.Comment

I dont think with just more memory you will be able to play. You need a supported video card too. I dont think your's is.Comment
