Re: cd drive
Check your IDE cable to see if it's plugged in both to the motherboard and to the back of the cd-rom drive. It may just be loose and needs to be push in a little bit.
if that doesn't work, check to see if windows recognizes the drive. Better yet, when you first boot up go into your bios and see if your PC sees it from there. If it doesn't then it's either totally busted or the cables are not connected.
If it does see it then, your drive still may be busted. Try to swap out another one and see if it works. If that fixes your problem, then you know the drive was busted.
And if that doesn't work, I guess it could be an issue with your motherbaord. (highly doubt it, but possible) -

Re: cd drive
If the above thing does not work then there might be a software that u installed that causes trouble such as virtual drive or something similarComment

To save me explaining:
If you know how to build computers then you must know about the BIOS, you need to use the BIOS to make sure your hardware is setup corectly.
Anyway on start up hit "del" or "f8" several times until you get the blue screen (default). This is the bios check your CD ROM, its straight forward really, just make sure its being detected by the BIOS. And its set as the primary.Comment

Re: cd drive
Did you read your motherboard manual??????
Do people now days just throw stuff together and it works??? If you take 10 minutes to browse thruh your manual you will learn alot. Try that first and then come back for any questions you might have afterwards.Comment
