Before you turned off your computer did you uninstall the graphic driver for your old graphics card?

Also check if you have an onboard chipset if it is disabled.

              wat is ur power supply?

i had a 6800gt and it needs a minimum psu of 350 watts and i only had 300...and i played fine for a few days and then i plugged in my sound card and after a few seconds of gaming, my display would die and the video card would shut off. afterwards, i could boot up my computer but there was no display, so i just upgraded my psu to 400 watts and i havent had a prob

Yep, as much as most forget about the PSU it is probally the most important part of a good gaming rig. A crap PSU can really give you trouble! At the end of the day its your pc's hub........ no power no PC :)

9600XT do not require a external power plug to them. It could be the ps, but i think either didn't remove drivers, or DOA.

As per onboard VGA, most of them will turn off once a VGA is detected on the AGP block.
