Re: thinking of upgrading my graphics card

Im loving the 7900 GTX 512MB. Seriously I've not tried every game but now that my problem has been fixed with restarts (cpu heatsink was covered in a thick layer of dust blocking it). Now I've been running Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter on everything maxed, anistropic 16X. Everything full, looks real nice. COD 2 maxed out, every game maxed out. BF2 as well alough I toned it down due to me only having 1GB RAM, I'll get 2 GB soon.

Well I got my stuff from www.overclockers.co.uk

Order today and you receive it the next day (obviously not too late in the day).

Also www.scan.co.uk is a good place as well.

Re: thinking of upgrading my graphics card

I got a 7950GT 512MB today Old card was a 6600GT. Just cranked everything to max to test it out, joined a full 64 server and was getting a constant 80+ FPS. In intence battles the lowest i was getting was 60. Sweet card, im well pleased with it.

I know its a bit above your budget but might be worth saving that little extra for :)

            Thx for all the help.
I have decided to go for a 7900 gt or gs card. It will cost me £120 but it will be worth it especially for when i get Flight Sim X
Thanks to everyone for the links :)

I would go with the 7900GT, my 7950GT is just a newer version of it really. And as ive said, its a great card. Can play on all high with excellent FPS.
Just one thing too add. You might want to stick another GB RAM in there or you wont be able to crank it up all high. Its worth getting so you get the full potential of your new card

Im going to reconmend the 7900 GTO. Its what I have. It can be overclocked to the same speeds as the 7900 GTX. It can be flashed into the same as a GTX.

The 7900 GTO 512MB beats the 7950 512MB in every benchmark. It is a better graphics card, I also went for the 7900 GTO 512MB because it has a built in cooler, and has Samsung 1.1 Video RAM. I read that because of its memory its a very very good overclocker.

Its £180 which is a very good price. You will do fine with the 7900 GT/S, just giving my point.

Yeah RAM = Random Acess Memory. Physical RAM. Also VRAM is graphics/video RAM.

Yep RAM is memory, BF2 likes to eat it up!
If you want to play on high settings 2GB RAM is needed. Plus maps will load faster, giving you another advantage.
I recently upgraded to 2GB RAM and SATA drives and now im first person on the map (usualy). I can get to a flag and take the flag before most are on the server.!
2GB RAM is a must for this game in my opinion

PS... you might want to get 2 x 1gb of 'matched' ram sticks. As in the same brand speed etc. If you get 2 matched sticks, it will run in dual channel (if your M/B supports it) and is really fast.
