    CPU Overheating...

Mainly happens in games but I've used CPU monitors and it idles at like 60C and in games goes up to or over 128C. Its overheating and mainly restarts my PC a lot in games. It restarts my PC sometimes randomly on my desktop or browsing the net. But in games it restarts. For instance in Oblivion I can't go 10 minutes without my PC restarting due to the CPU overheating.

Sounds like the heatsink isn't mounted correctly. I would start with that first, and don't forget to clean and reapply whatever you use for thermal compound.

Yes, also check that your fan are properly working and verify that you have a good airflow inside the case ( no cable blocking the way ).

Getting up to 128 C sounds like to me like your fan isn't even running.

Try leaving your case open at watching your CPU fan. If it doesn't spin, then you know what's up. If it is spinning, then it may be coming totally different.

9 out of 10 times PCs crash randomly due to faulting PSUs.

Well winter is coming, maybe he wanted to use it as a space heater.

P.S. Hope you get it sorted soon before the cpu gets damaged from running that high.

Nah nothing OC'd and the case is open right now. The fan is spinning fast.

I would remove your heatsink and wipe any old heatsink compound and start over. If your fan is spinning it's either not spinning fast enough or there is some serious dust and airflow issues going on in your case. How many fans do you have in your case? If you only have 1 exhaust fan I would HIGHLY recommend getting a front intake fan. Also, is this heatsink the stock one or aftermarket?

I would take off your siding of your case and get some compressed canned air and clean out your case. After you get done with that I would do some wire management, I tucked some of my wires out of the way and got a good 5C temp difference. Then I would pull off my heatsink and ensure there is enough compound on it to actually do it's job, wipe it all off and apply a nice layer of artic silver 5 and see what your temps are.

Yah, well I have a new case that should be here in a week due to it being out of stock and awaiting order, its the Thermaltake Soprano. I've looked into it as I always do when buying hardware (google :)) and its a good case.

Also im getting no more restarting, I didn't remove the heatsink due to not having thermal compound, but I removed the fan, and underneath the heatsink grill was, um lets say a 1cm layer of dust on the top alone. Cleaned it out, used compressed air as well.

Now its running quieter and more efficient and most of all no game restarts. Running GRAW maxed out full. BF2 I haven't played in months so I did briefly test it out in singleplayer but I've been busy lately so I should have time to play some.

That right there is probably the cause of your overheating. Hope you cleaned everything else while you were at it.

Well the graphics card is new, the psu is new and no the components are cramped to hell. Not a lot of space. When my new case comes and the components are being transfered over I'll clean them for sure with compressed air, blows all the crap away.

Just make sure to stick a pencil or something in the fans to stop them from spinning when blowing them out. The force from the compressed air will spin them far faster than they are rated for and can damage them.

It was turned off and unplugged at the time?

The fan was taken off as well so I could clean the heat sink well.
