    Intel Core 2 Duo & BF2

    Hello everyone,

I saw that a while ago the Intel Core 2 Duo processors were out and it looks like they've cut the competition off AMD.

Can anyone suggest which one is the best "bang for the buck" because I think the "Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme" price is a bit.. extreme.

Also; what video card would match it so I won't have any bottleneck?

    Regards

This is what I know now:

If you can overclock, you can go for the E6400 or the E6600. When they're overclocked they are REALLY good!

And about the vid card. If you want to have extreme graphics, take the ATI Radeon X1950 XT or something. But for medium graphics take the Nvidia 7600 GS

I play on high (besides AA) with a 6800GT. The FPS isnt bad at all on it.

put down the crack pipe, it is not. C2D wins hands down everytime. Dont go spreading rumors and lies around.

                Well, I suppose a 4800 x2 might beat a stock e6300

But to really suggest what would be the best combo for you, we need a budget.

If you're going to build a whole new computer, I can probably pick the parts out for you, if you give me the budget for the whole computer.

Well they dont have a E6300, but they have a 6400, and the 4800 gets close but is no match, so im pretty sure the 6300 is going to be around the same.

I have an Athlon X2 4400, and a cheaper Radeon x1600 vid card (256mb), and it rocks. I play all settings on high with virtually no problem. I have just installed 2gb of Corsair memory, and it is seamless.

Several friends just built systems last month based on the C2D with 512 mb x1800 Radeon vid cards, and I challenge you to find a noticable difference.

Well contrary to what you might hear, i went from a P4 640 to a E6300, and is almost night and day, my FPS went up, and are more stable. The only thing that i notice not much of an improvement is on DVD SHRINK feels about the same speed, but everything else is alot faster than with the P4 640.

Plus, the C2D's run cooler, take less power, and are absolute beasts at overclocking. With 800mhz memory, a 66% overclock is very easily attainable--on air, too. And there are other applications than games, such as encoding or decompressing or the general snappiness of the OS, that the C2D's really excel in.
