Re: 24 Inch Dell Widescreen ,Game resolution ?
I am not sure, but I think BF2 lacks wide screen support.... Check the help forums for more details as I am sure that I have read something like that here before. -

Re: 24 Inch Dell Widescreen ,Game resolution ?
The Dell 24" monitor runs at a native resolution of 1920x1200 (16:10)
Exact commandline you'll need: (modify the folder location to match your own)
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\bf2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +restart +szx 1920 +szy 1200Comment

Somebody told me that widescreen is better for your eyes since they look in a rectangular shape and not in a square shape as standard monitors have?Comment

I dont think there is much debate as sitting close to any screen all your life isnt good for you. It is important that you take a break every once in a while.Originally posted by KMTSomebody told me that widescreen is better for your eyes since they look in a rectangular shape and not in a square shape as standard monitors have?
It is true that without moving you head your field of vision is wider than it is high so the concept of widescreen is better for the sake of ergonomics. Certainly i find it more user friendly. But i dont think there is an argument to be had about screen aspect and health since screens with the same area will give the same exposure irrelevant on whether they are square or rectangular.
If we were talking giant screens of the same screen area that you had to look at then you could say the normal aspect is potentially harmful to your neck as you would have to tilt your head to see the top or bottom of it where as the widescreen is visable without moving your head. However on that scale you could argue that you got greater exposure from the widescreen since its total area was visable at all times.
In computer terms the largest monitor your likely to get normal aspect is about 21" which i wouldnt have thought large enough to require moving your head to see all of the screen especially since the larger the screen the further away you tend to place it from yourself.Comment

Re: 24 Inch Dell Widescreen ,Game resolution ?
+szx 1920 +szy 1200 cuts a strip from top and bottom to fit onto the screen....ok I guess if you are a groundpound specialist but I dont like it when flying anything, sometimes all I get to follow is a quick flash of a wing wake and cutting bits out makes me think Im missing something.
Im not sure of the dell 24 but my 23" L2335 can strech any normal res across the screen so I set the game on 1600x1200 and let the monitor stretch that to 1920x1200....no missing strips and the minimap is still the same oval shape.
Tons of discussion about bf2 and widescreen here- http://www.widescreengamingforum.com - there was a post once where someone coloured in the missing strips but I cant find it, but theres other threads with non-colored comparisons to see too.
