CheapISH Video Card?

Ok so I have a Radeon Viper 6900 XT 256mb and I updated the driver and now it will not play BF2, I can roll back the drive to the regular version but I get the black screen then the desktop. I got the card about 2.5 years ago for $350 and I know its around $120 now but Im tired of dealing with it, its been weeks.

Does anyone know where I can get a cheapish card (100-175ish) dollars that WILL run BF2?

It's the worst of the 800 line, but it'll run med high comfortably with decent ram/proc. The 7600gt by eVga though is the best purchase right now.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you mean Radeon Viper 9600 XT. IF that is the case this means your mother board has an AGP slot for a graphics card instead of the more modern PCI Express x16 which will limit your choice. In the case of an AGP slot, I would recommend either a:

Realistically though, for good performance gains you will need to upgrade your motherboard to one that supports PCI-E x16. If you choose to go that route, I would recommend:

i have a geforce 7300 that i got for 60-70. people tell me its one of the lower-class vid cards(im not technically advanced like some) but it runs perfectly on average settings

7600 gt is ur best bet runs all high at highest res and great bang for the buck.

I have a Dell Demension 8250.......
I want to get the 7600gt but its PCI is there anyway I can find out if my comp will hold a PCI video card?

Yes it rapes.

It runs high 24/7 60fps, 1280 x 1024 2xAA.

You better have a good rest of a system though.

But, sadly its an older card, and the 7600Gt is newer.

i reccomend the 7600GT.

Shot dude. If you look around the forum, more people seem to have issues with Nvidia cards than ATI.

By looking at your Dell's specs, it appears your PC has an AGP slot, so a 7600GT won't be available (7600GS comes in AGP format).

Try an X800XT PE or 6800GT. Both are within your budget and are fine cards for BF2 and any other game out there.
