The more effecient the power supply the lower your electricity bill,TBH how much do u expect it to drain electricity from ur home :p, relax its not that it will be 100$ more or something. One tip do not leave ur pc open for 24/7 and play during daytime, that will keep ur EB low :p

You have dual cards and a 550 W, wouldn't like your bill lol.

Still my PC is never on 24/7, ever. Even if im downloading, I still turn it off when I go away. It may be on some days for hours, but never over like 8 hours a day, I might leave it on sometimes but never all day long. Considering college, work and socialising. You can see it won't be used 24/7. It's mainly for gaming so you know, not like MSN and Xfire are gonna eat up. I was told also that it only uses what your system requires, such as your CPU, disc drives, hd, gfx card etc. Will my system only need a 500W psu?

Geforce 7900 GTO 512MB (basically a GTX but like 5% slower clock speed)

Its more than enough I have a 450W psu and my specs as follows

AMD64 3800
2GB ram
Geforce 7900 GTO 512MB (which drivers are u using because this card is causing trouble with the latest driver)
250GB SATA HD
XFI xtreme music

basicly same setup as yours so it is enough

^ I don't have the card yet, but im going to buy that, reason that I put that as a spec was to get an oppinion on a wattage for the psu.

What do you mean trouble with the card?

I mean is it a good card? I've read on their forums users saying that its a top card and have had no problems.

Post screenshots, or settings that you run games on, oblivion, bf2 etc.

OH long story short, I bought one of these but the first one was artifacting badly so I replace It with a second one and guess what the fan did not work so I replace it again but when the third one seemed to be fine it showed some artifact in some games (fear) so I thought it was a driver problem since not all games are causing trouble that why I asked u what drivers are the most stable for this card, I guess it is a bit long

I hope I don't get the same crap you had. That is pretty bad, contact MSI or Nvidia.

How does the settings come up in your games? can you run full settings on all games? and do you have Oblivion, settings?

Oh yeah just wondering but, maybe you should format your system. I always would do that. Reason being is just installing a graphics card after taking your old one out, then putting new drivers for the new gfx card over the new one may make it a lil messy?

Just a theory. If you already did that, I don't really know, try posting in forums. pit stop pc forums are pretty good.

Yah, I've heard of Gainward, the one I was gonna get is on overclockers.co.uk, scroll down a lil on the front page its the MSI brand. Really I wanted to buy this and DX10 isn't out for like 3 months, then it will be kind of unstable and maybe not the best, so give Nvidia months more to tweak and make drivers stable then thats when I'd think about it.

Really I don't have 2GB RAM so im kind of thinking if my system will bottle neck due to me only having 1GB RAM?

Right now im running BF2 on medium, Oblivion on Low etc basically the newer games that come out the harder it is on my comp. Thats why I was thinking of upgrading.

So you think this card is a really good card? I've read a lot of reviews on it and it is a top card according to a lot of reviewers and companies. I looked at the reviews but it shows fps benchmarks for all the games, not screenshots or what settings they have it on. I want my games to max out though. Oblivion is usually always kind of trippy out in the open, and the mountains are blurry etc. I'd probly upgrade to 2GB RAM some point later in the coming months but for now its a graphics card and power supply I need.

So if I get the 7900 GTO 512MB, what power supply do you reconmend? really I don't want to spend to much money, but I need one that will do the following:

. Make my system stable (everything in it)
. No crashes or restarts (like I get now)
. Not noisey (not a necessity but my computer is like a Jet engine no idea)
. Efficient (Comps not on 24/7 but keep the bills down :) )

Again it has to be stable and suitable for my systems environment, I don't want no crap happening the day I get it or a month down the line. I was looking at the one you see at the top of the page. However if you can find another one on either www.scan.co.uk or www.overclockers.co.uk that would be cool. I do want it cheap but the best bang for the buck, but try come up with a few anyone who can. I do have a limit and I don't really want to cross that but I don't mind paying a little extra for stability, efficient and long durability.

AH after my bad experience with the 7900GTO I think u should consider an x1900xt pretty powerful and no complains about it being artifacting and here it is from the site u gave me ( I dont know if u can find it cheaper)

Damn I was buying the 7900 GTO 512MB due to it being on a good offer. I'd pay more for the ATI card. Really as long as it runs my games on top spec then its all good, I don't really worry or think of the small increases of this or that in a game. I looked at a review of the 7900 GTO 512MB vs the X1900 XT 512MB and it had side by side pictures and they looked the same.

It's an either or decision, im not bias to be honest. I have a 6600 and that runs well and hasn't caused me any problems for over a year and a half. According to one site the 7900 GTO 512MB requires a min of a 450W power supply.

Also the 7900 GTO 512MB beats the 7950 GTO by a marginol increase according to firing squad. Really you just confused me now lol. I can pay the extra but is that extra really worth it? I mean I gotta buy the power supply as well and im on a budget so not to sure here.

Were you talking about this power supply Antec TruePower Trio 550W PSU?

It's £70

. Is there any others there that are cheaper but will do the same job as that one? My budget for the Power supply was £60. Remember overclockers charge £8 delivery which is a pain in the ***, so I don't know if any other sites are better. A 500W will do for my system won't it?

Also I googled more, and found out threads of x1900 XT vs the 7900 GTO, and people were saying which one was better etc, but then people said that the 7900 GTO can easily be clocked to hell and clocked to the 7900 GTX 512MB, which imo I always thought of the 7900 GTX 512MB a demon of a card. So people posted the firing squad links saying how the x1900xt beats the 7900 GTO, but that was on stock clocks for the 7900 GTO and when the 7900 GTO is clocked it beats the X1900XT. But damn I can follow that easily but I get lost on the constant arguement of which card is better.

I might be biased with my conclusion but as I said it was due frustration from this very card and by the way I also upgraded it from my old 5700le which served well for a whole three years with no single problem at all. As for power supply yeah even the 450W can handle it but to be in the safer side use atleast a 500W psu the seventh in the list will serve well and within price range

Ya just to update I talked to another friend who told me OCZ are the best power supplies around. So I said I really only need 500 ish power supply for efficiency reasons, so I got pointed to:

520W should be very good. Was told that its the best brand around and thats a good price. 3 year warranty. Active PFC?

Anyway check out all the reviews it got, sounds pretty good to me. Anyway so even though VAT sucks, especially here, and the delivery was a little steep which did go over a my budget slightly but its all good, final thoughts?

The three years warranty seems good + OCZ is a good brand no doubt but is the price close to ur budjet + did u decide which card are u going to get?
