which graphics card?

im on a tight budget and need a new graphics card and i think i've narrowed it down. so any help would be great. spent hours looking at reviews but i thought i'd ask u guys.
they are...

Asus Nvidia 7600GT 256MB DDR3

or...

Point Of View Nvidia 6800GS 512mb DDR3

in the reviews the come out almost the same.

7900gs but be aware you are about to spend a fair bit of money on what is undoubtedly a great graphics card.
This is because they have a lot of dx9 cards to sell off before dx10 stuff comes out in a matter of weeks.
People are always saying wait for the next big thing but in this case, to wait a few weeks will buy you a dx10 card that will almost undoubtedly outperform even a decent dx9 card.

Should be within the next few months, Nov,Dec, Jan. I think they might come out in NOV. Vista is out soon as well anyway.

Nvidia's G80 is going to be revealed on November 8th, but I don't know if that means a hard launch where consumers can buy it. If it's not, it will definitely come out sometime later in November.

ATI's DX10 cards are coming out early next year, supposedly around January.

I would go with the 7600GT - great card and will play BF2 great.
Dont get all confused with these guys replying about DX10. Its not even out yet and if your on a tight budget you can forget it for a year or 2 to come.
If you just want to play the latest games then go for the 7600GT.
Anyone here who bangs on about getting a DX10 card, dont know cr@p!

You are on a budget remember! DX10 will make you bankrupt at the moment. So go get that 7600GT and enjoy eye candy for along time to come yet :)

You raise some good points but anybody who spends just shy of £200 pounds on a graphics card when the next lot are waiting in the wings is a fool. Even the budget range of the next generation will stand up to the current range and its all well and good investing in a new card but DX10 cards are a real development and not a pipe dream.

I have to say that UNDIESRULES you are wrong in what you are saying.

DX10 is coming out soon yeah, possibly in 3 months, but they are new products and will no doubt be still in testing sort of, the drivers won't be really configured etc. So really, buy a new card now and wait like half a year after DX10 is released until thinking of getting a new DX10 card, they will be fully developed. On release they aren't really fully developed. Sort of like the 7950 GX2, the drivers are still not fully developed.

I bet they will be able to play just fine in XP as well, but they certainly won't be using DX10 there. The G80 comes out in November and Vista doesn't come out until January.

just get the 7900gs

only 8800gtx/gt will be out in next month or two $200 cards will probably out febuary/march

thats the way releases go high end cards first then mid range a little later
