Ram timing

I just added 2 gigs of corsairXMS 3200 to my system.I also have 2x512 corsair value cheapo's in my system for a total of 3Gb.How do I check to see what my timing is set at.And how do I change them?Also my new EVGA 7900GTX is coming in tomorrow.Any recommendations on this card?

Ok first Win XP x32 can only use 2 gig for accually running programs, allthough it will see 4 gig it will only page to anything above 2 gig. So you are probly better off only use'n the new2 gig dual channel kit. Most mobo BIOS are set to auto detect RAM timings and will set them to the slowest chip. You can also try setting RAM timmings manualy in the BIOS here is a good guide on BIOS SETTINGS

Do you have any probs with your 64bit XP?I have heard mixed reviews...I have a AMD FX64 and was wondering if I would run into probs with games.

download CUPID or CPUZ it will tell you the timings as well as the bios

I'll have to correct you there, its actually 3.5gb before it starts running into problems.

Also your 512 sticks dont have timings on the lables which are on the ram? Most do, check if you havent already.

My x64 XP runs very stable but its built for gamming no frills and it runs all my games /w never a crash. The only problems I have are with crap install packages. For example Americas Army 2.7 just released and the install files are compressed into an installer that quits inthe middle of uncompressing the files to TEMP folder. I had to manualy extract them and run them and no support from anybody except microsoft for hardware.

Windows XP x64 is a awsome OS its not popular because lack of hardware support (drivers) and there is no hardware support because its not a popular OS

If everyone who bought a x64 processor insisted on getting the most out of thier system by running a x64 OS there would be drivers in abundance.

In your first link it says that 32-bit XP Pro can handle up to 4gb of physical memory. Most likely the same for Home.

And honestly, there are very few programs out now for a gamer/casual PC user that use 64-bit, and the two games that I know of that can use 64-bit (Half-Life 2 and Far Cry) have a very low performance improvement (if any) over normal 32-bit. And the driver support is next to horrible, and with no signs of improving, I don't see how 64-bit Windows XP could be a good recommendation.

You can change your memory timings from BIOS. At default they are mostly bad , if ur running @400mhz try forcing timings to 2:5:2:2 most corsairs will handle it.
