    This Performance Normal?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, couldn't find a hardware one. Anyway
    Radeonx600
    2Gb ram
    Windows Xp MCE
    Pentium D 3 GHZ

    Display Mode: 1024x768@75hz
    Terrain: medium
    effects: medium
    geometry: medium
    texture: low
    lighting: medium
    Dynamic shadows: low
    Dynamic Light: low
    AA: off
    Texture filtering: Low
    View distance scale: 90%

now i run the game averaging about 28 fps, when arty hits nearby or when someone is shooting at me it drops from 20 to 15 fps. When im flying i get around 70 fps. Anyone know if this is the expected performance? because it seems disappointing to me.

        This is the problem:
ATI Radeon X600= 256/128MB DDR1 memory,Two programmable vertex shader pipelines, Four extreme parallel 3D rendering pixel pipelines, Peak Pixel Fill Rate: 2.00 GB/s, Core Speed: 500 MHz, Memory Speed: 370 MHz

This card has no business attempting to run BF2, that is your problem, this is not a gamer card.

        Check this out:
for under $125.00 you can get a card capable of decent gameplay:

or if you want to stay ATI:

        Also, what kind of memory?
        what kind of HDD?
Windows XP MCE is not really a gamer platform. It works ok, but Pro is better.

          Re: This Performance Normal?

MCE is basically Pro with a few different features. Some of the added features are designed to make organizing and launching games easier to do.

The GPU is substandard, but not to the point where BF2 should be all that bad. On a 9550 I had decent framerates with almost the same settings. I had lighting on low, view 100% geometry high.

Wha kind of computer is this?
Did you have it built or is it a name brand?
If it was built for you, open the case, look at the motherboard, find the model # and manufacturer, look up specs on the manf. site.
If it is a name brand, contact the manufacturer.

This is an AGP equipped board:

This is a PCIE equipped board:

Notice the small ports on the top of the 2nd board? Those are PCIE 1X ports, only present on a PCIE equipped board.

Also notice that the AGP port is farther back (the 1st motherboard)

                    Re: This Performance Normal?

Yea, and if you download cpu-z it will tell you your mobo model number as well.

If you only can get an agp card then I would suggest a 7600gs and pci-e I would get a 7800gt or 7900gt (since they're pretty inexpensive now-a-days).

The 7800GS is the high end of AGP cards.

Keep up to date with the latest announcements & discussions on the hot topics.

However it is pricey for an AGP card: $230.00

                          Specs:
                          AGP 8x
                          256 MB GDDR3 Memory
                          400 MHz Core Clock
                          1250 MHz Memory Clock
                          Dual 400 MHz RAMDACs
                          40 GB/sec Memory Bandwidth
                          VGA and DVI-I Connectors

16 Pipes, the AGP really holds it back though.

I just got my 7950GX2 today, it is f**king sweet! 1GB of memory, 48 Pixel pipes! SLI on one board!

                          I recommend it highly.

                              Honestly, get a new card.
I just realized something, the X600 is PCI-E

                              Here is what you need.
