    need a computer wiz...anyone?

ok here is my question, first off I play BF2 on 2 computers..desktop when at home and on my laptop when deployed or the wife nags and kicks me off the desktop. Here are the specs

    Desktop:
    pos DELL dimension
    pentiumR 4 cpu 2.80GHz
    2.79GHz, 512Mb of RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce 6800
    80Gb hard drive 48Gb left

    Laptop
    sony vaio
    pentiumR M 1.86GHz
    1.86GHz, 1.00Gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6200 turbo cache
    100GB hard drive 76.7Gb left

I dont know if thats all the info you need but im just going by the system info.
Anyways my question is, why does my laptop load and play better than my desktop? On the laptop my lowest pings dispayed at around 20's and on the desktop they are 170's to 200+ The laptop cant handle the settings on high but the desktop can with no lag. Before I was deployed for a month, I could play on the desktop and pings were around 30 to 40 but now they are to high and I get kicked so I have to switch over to the laptop. Both computers are linked to a router so its the same service but one has higher pings than the other. I dont get it...do I need to adjust something in the desktop?
If you can help I would appreciate it.

The network adapter on your laptop may be a faster standard than the one on your desktop, perhaps try a faster standard of network card, they are only cheap.

I think there is a bug in the patch that causes that. Lots of people I know can't play the game anymore because of high pings in game, but never have problems otherwise.

Whats up undies lol. I looked it up for both pc's and if Im looking at the right thing they both say ethernet 802.3 under network and adapter type.

I did see a difference with the page file and virtual memmory under system info/system summary
        the desktop has:
        total physical memory = 512.00mb
        avail physical memory = 165.80mb
        total virtual memory = 2.00gb
        avail virtual memory = 1.96gb
        page file space = 1.21gb

        the laptop has:
        total physical memory = 1024mb
        avail physical memory = 608.55mb
        total virtual mem = 2.00bg
        avail virtual mem = 1.96
        page file space = 2.40gb

would this have anything to do with it? or is the laptop just a better computer? I would think the desktop would be.

Ya know...I noticed that too after installing the 1.4 patch. Fix one prob and replace it with another lol.

the reason for it loading quicker, is the laptop has more RAM than the desktop. The more RAM for BF2 the better.

yeah...ur laptop has twice the ram that ur desktop has and im guessing that the desktop is playing higher settings but thats not good since u only have 512ram and u will get alot of stuttering with only 512 ram. 1.5 gigs will be enuff for ur 6800 and if u want better performance...u can try a risky procedure where u unlock pipelines for the 6800...but u should google that

not sure about ur lag...wat type of internet connection do u have
