    Original P.c. Idiot Needs Help???

Hi everyone, i hope this is right FORUM??

Just getting ready to upgrade my p.c. and for the FIRST time I'm going to install a new video card. i havnt bought anything yet and heres my problem:
I always thought a video card had SOUND built in to them! But when i started looking at video cards i noticed they were different than what I thought, Theres a plug in for the monitor on the video card. it didnt have any plugs for headphones! So I thought somethings amiss, so thats why im here.

To make a long story short I can install a new video card and it wont effect my soundcard?? right? There two different pieces of hardware??? I like my sound card.

oh yeah i have nvidea GeForce MX Graphics on my emachine, AMD Athlon XP proccessor.

    Thanks alot,

yes you can install a new video adapter without it affecting your sound as they are 2 different pieces of hardware, if you have an emachine your sound and grpahics are probably onboard anyhow,...

I have an emachines and I just use the onboard sound since its some 5 channel thing and its actually pretty good.

I installed a new video card and it didnt effect the sound at all so it should work fine.

you might need a minimum of 1.5-2Gb Ram (1.5-2gb ram is a link )

for your video card installation http://www.totalbf2142.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1739

IMO you should upgrade all your memory to DDR 400 (PC 3200) Corsair is one of the best memory out there for DDR. Upgrade to at least 1GB but for running BF2 you should have 2GB of memory.

If you are looking at upgrading the Video Card I suggest getting the ATI Radeon 850XT which has 256MB of memory and will allow you to run BF2 on Medium/High settings.
