    system performance???

If anyone has an idea why system 2 sucks let me know, 1 Gb of RAM cant make that much of a difference??
    Both systems WinXP Pro.

    System 1

    P4 3.0GHz socket 478
    2 GB RAM DDR PC3200
    ATI X800XL, AGP

    latest drivers
    3DMark03 : 10312

BF2 playable at very decent settings.

    System 2

    C2D 6300
    1 GB RAM DDR2 PC6400
    Nvidia 7900 GS, PCI-E
    drivers 91.45

    3Dmark03 : 1877

    Games unplayable
this doesnt make sense or does it?

    suggestions???

From what I have read the 7900 GS is a good card.

    Re: system performance???

It is, very good. The ram isnt an issue if texture settings are on medium. If by unplayable you mean that it wont start, then I'd try a re-install. If its just terrible preformance, try new/ different drivers, or see if its a bad card

      That makes no sense whatsoever.

Did you plug the molex connector from your PSU in to your 7900 GS? Is it throttling back due to insufficient power?

Are you getting a 4 digit score on your second system, or is it a typo?

What motherboard do you have for your C2D system? Did you install the motherboard drivers?

            Re: system performance???

Ok, I played around some more and the problem seems to have been the soundcard drivers. Not sure how that is logical but ah well. New score is 17566 on 3DMark03 (4388 on 3DMark06, CPU OC'ed to 2.3GHz and everything else stock). Oblivion plays nicely.

while the scores are good now I cant play BF2 at all anymore, every attempt at loading a map results in a CTD. I re-installed BF2, patched and updated PB with no luck. BF2 must be the most crash prone game I have ever played. Motherboard is P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe. motherboard drivers installed. Thanks for the suggestions so far, if anyone has an idea on how to the CTD at _every_ attempt to load a map...........I will try to set everything back to stock speeds and see if that helps.
