D-Link Gaming Router - Whose got one?

If you have one please tell me a little more about it. And not the wireless, i dont have a wireless connection.

How is it in terms of browsing speed and BF2 pings?

I normally ping between 20 and 9 on my good servers. But I figured I'd upgrade it since I may be upgrading my cable to a 30MB connection rather then my 15MB.

Is something wrong with FIFTEEN mb's??? You don't know how good you have it. :)

I'm using 5mb with a D-Link DI-514(the el-cheapo wireless model)...and ping 10-20 on my regular server. It has worked great for 2+ years now.

As far as I've heard, the one you ask about is excellent too. But it seems the only purpose of it, is if you are sharing your connection while playing online. If you are the only user, then I'm not sure it would make any difference for you at all.

What it does in that regard is give priority(more bandwidth) to the comp you specify. If you're the only comp using the router, then what benefit could it possibly offer for its price?

As long as your current router can handle your current bandwidth...why waste money?

What do you need all that bandwidth for anyway? How much do you pay for 15 and how much is the 30?

Awesome thanks for the info. I pay for Optimum Online service at $29.95/month for a 15MB connection. For an added $9.99 they can throw in a 30MB connection. It's a promotion they are having now and I would like to jump on it.

They give you 30MB download and 2MB Upload with a free website and they allow 100MB eMail attachments.

And yeah some servers I've had a ping of like 5. It's great. Especially for TVing and flying. :)

Go for the 30!!! I pay $55($50 if have cable TV too) for my 5mb's. Still don't think you need the spiffy new router though...try the new connect first, decide later.

          Review here:

Pretty much confirms what I said if you read through it...mentions being useful if SHARING your connection with others.
