Cool! Any one here running a dual core? How is it? Is the extra price for the dual core worth it in the overall gaming performance / experience??

Well, i run an x2 from AMD, and i love having a dual core, you can exit games so much more quickly, and just be more efficient in everything you do. I couldn't say about the new intel cpu's though.

Can anyone here who HAS an Intel Core 2 Duo post his/her meaning? I'm thinking about buying one so I need a second opinion. Cause some people say AMD still owns in games, doesnt matter how much Ghz or something. But all the benchmarks are for Intel :/

last time i checked the conroe core kicked AMD's *** on every benchmark.

i just personally dont like the MB's that intel users have to choose from.

In BF2 you cant notice big difference core 2 duo vs AMD dualcore, because bf2 doesnt support dualcore CPU-s it still uses 1 core.

e6300 $180 USD shipped at newegg.
Getting ready to order parts as well. I've done alot of research and read posts from people that have one. The 6300 is getting nothing but praise. Runs cool, well designed, etc.

The E6300 was the 1.85 Ghz version wasnt it? But how can a procc with that few Ghz beat the very good AMD ones with more Ghz?

It has a lot more efficient architecture. How can an AMD 2.0ghz processor bench similarly to Intels' 3.2ghz Pentium 4's?

So if I follow the advice of you experts, I should buy an Intel Core 2 Duo? I guess I would go for the E6300 or E6400 then. But I also need an other mainboard then don't I?

If your getting Core 2 Duo, go the little extra for a E6600. I must say they are an excellent CPU.

I know this is hard to say, but the Conroe owns AMD in bf2.

I've been running an E6600 on an Asus P5WDH mobo for a few weeks, and gotta say that I'm impressed!! I've been a AMD man for a number of years, and this thing WAXES the AMD on paper!!

The mobos/bios' are still in they're infancy, and a bit steeper than what I'm used to spending, but that's part of bein "bleedin edge"!!

I got my E6600 (stock 2.4 Ghrz) runnin at 3.0 Ghrz at all STOCK voltages
on air cooling, so that might give you an idea of the potential of these things!
