buying new gfx card and ram

ok specs : p4 HT 3.4ghz
6600 pci-e
512mb ram


so i THINK im going to buy a 7600gt and an extra gig of ram, but my question is, will i need a new psu?

im in the UK and if anyone has any suggestions (i dont want to buy one but i probably have to) then feel free to give me a link

OMG just realised i dont know what psu i have, any sites where i can find out?

whats the wattagte on your psu? open the side of your case and look if its not one u bought u will have 2 porbably buy a new one unless u want ur computer to melt

To clarify that, open up your case and read the wattage, probably around 300 -400 watts on your computer. 350 is all a 7600 gt needs, 300 for the PNY version, so make sure its that, otherweise an upgrade is virtually neccessary

im going to take a wild stab and say you need a new ps if you dont know what yours is currently rated at. Especially if you are buying new components, wouldnt want to fry 300$ in new parts

nope, just take the side left side panel off & look at the aside of the PSU, it will give u the readings u need,

If youre going to upgrade the gfx card wouldnt you invalidate the warranty anyway?
Its a 2 second job to have a look and chances are you may even not need one. Dont worry about frying components, if the psu isnt up to the job itll either conk out or die peacemeal and nothing else should be affected.
