Intel or AMD...Not a usual debate!

Hi guys, i got a friend that have asked me to find a new processor for him.
So i have this question, because i have not owned an AMD only Intel, i dont know very much about them. Just as you see in my sig i got a Core 2.

Btw he is ONLY going to use it in Battlefield 2.

Dont mind the pricing it is much more equivalent where i live.
They cost almost Exactly the same.

So should he buy this one:

    Intel

    Or

    AMD

if hes only gonna use it for BF2 it would be a waste to get a high end Dual Core processor as BF2 wont utilize it,

Yeah, i know that, he really wants a dual-core. And i think he wont play battlefield 2 forever :P

But wich one, or is there an alternative?

it will make no difference at all, his system will be bottlenecked at the Graphics Card.

He *MAY* get like 3 Frames Per Second more with the Intel... but that's unlikely.

See this link which tests for the new BF2142 beta based on CPU strength. At low resolution (800 x 600) there is a noticable difference in raw FPS but once you get to more playable resolutions (1600 x 1200) the advantage disapears. And since you've picked a Core 2 Duo with only 2 MBH of L2 Cache and not its beefier 4MB brother, there is REALLY no difference.

It's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

He have the Ati Radeon X1900 XT. So its not so very bottlenecked.

If he wants to be more "future proof" get the intel, but dont do it because of BF2/2142. And if I were him, I would get the E6600 with 4MB of cache... if you're going to invest in a new CPU, may as well get the best you can.

It will be. They used a 7900 GTX in that review and it was bottlenecked.

1900 isnt that much better than a 7900.....

This next one is with the low resolution......but who the hell wants to play at that resolution? It clearly shows that the Intel is the superior CPU in this instance, but its an irrelevant measurement in my opinion.

Hmm, didnt know that. I wonder if my cards are bottlenecked, they shouldnt be....or?

less so, but yeah, probably still somewhat of a bottleneck.
Nice rig, where'd you get the money? I gotta go rob a bank or something.
