Need a good agp video card

i know its dinosaur technology, but i dont want to buy a new mobo/cpu

Right now at

Asus A7N8X-x :cry:
1 gb ram:cry:
fx 5600Ultra 128mb :cry:
and a amd xp 2500+ :cry: :cry: :cry:

right now i am playing all on low and 800x600 just to get 60+ fps

with $300 how can i improve the most (peformance wise)
if it involves getting a agp video vard, what do you suggest?

Might still be considered pricy for its performance even with that rebate, but it will play all high at 1280x1024

AGP is not yet 'dinosaur' technology. I will be upgrading from an AGP X800XL card to PCI-express but not because the card cant handle my games but because the new motherboard I want does not have an AGP slot. That said, the X800XL is an excellent card that can be had for around $200, the card mentioned by knghtwhosaysni is very good as well. I play BF2 at 1280x1024 at med/high settings with my X800XL. Just a thought.

I use a 7800 GS which cost me 180 GBP (just about in budget) brand new from dabs.com. I can run 1280 res with everything on high and its smooth as silk.

Other spec is AMD 64 3200 and 1 gig of ram.

6600 GT cards are good, but I recommend something 7 series

lol..........best one kid is the radeon sapphire x800gto reuns all high with some medium and 4x AA belive it or not and it only costs 120-130

Use that and get 1gb more RAM and you'll be playing at mostly medium, some high.

dude i already posted the same card plus it isnt mostly medium it is mostly high with some medium and even some AA i have the card now but with 1.5gb of RAM

you sold it me, 300- 50 $250
expensive but hey, i trust that by the time its done i will be forced to buy Quad Sli - mobos as if they were regular
i should have sticked with the consoles.....

That's probably the best bet looking long term. 7800GS supports Shader Model 3.0 and other next-gen graphics features that the x800 series ATI cards don't. I love ATI, but when I eventually toss my Radeon 9800 Pro, it'll be for the same card you're getting. :)
