windows xp flickers

for some reason when i get to the windows intro the area where i type my password my screen will flicker between 2-3 times before the login screen comes on, is this normal? is it a driver problem? i use the latest omega drivers

amd athlon 64 3400+2.2ghz
1.5 gigs of ram
ati x1600 pro 512 mb pcie
