SATA is so much faster than IDE.

SATA is the new generation of Hard drives, whereas IDE is rather old.

IDE is way better
i get an extra 50 fps just because of my 140gb ide hd.

At this point in time it doesnt matter much. SATA drives are only marginally faster than IDE drives. I use both SATA and IDE drives in my system and I benchmarked them, the difference is negligible. If you want to dramatically increase performance you should use drives in a RAID configuration.

They're the same. You're inhibited by spinning platters, not the interface. IDE and SATA drives are actually the same drives with different connectors on them.

Exactly. The bandwidth limits are mechanical ones, not electronic ones.
