"Refurbished" joystick?

I was cruising Ebay while procrastinating at work (tsk tsk) and saw a fair number of Logitech Extreme 3D Joysticks from a single seller with a 100% positive feedback rating...Clicked on one and the condition said "Refurbished".

Does anybody here know what exactly about a joystick can be "refurbished" and offer any insight?

They retail for around $40, Newegg has them for $28, and this guy on Ebay had a "Buy it now" price of $8.99.

Even if I get it without knowing anything and it doesnt work, I'm only out like $12 after shipping... I wonder if they are "OEM" and have no box, like maybe they came as an accessory to a bunch of other computers and he just marks them as "Refurbished".

I sent the seller an email this morning but figured I'd post here also.

Id normally assume from refurbished that worn parts etc had been replaced and the item was as close to 'good as new' as possible but i dont see how that can be the case with a joystick since it isnt generally possible to do that.
Possibly he has used donor joysticks to make them work but for that price he isnt paying himself much for the time that would take.

right, thats why Im guessing they came from other outlets than retail purchase in a logitech box... like they came with a whole crop of Alienware computers and he's selling them more like OEM than refurbs...

For joysticks don't go for Logitech they tend to have calibration problems because of there design.
