    best choice of upgrade

so basically my computer is a bit *** nowadays and i want to upgrade it a little. I have 200 pounds (UK) and was wondering what the most effective upgrade for that price would be

    my specs are :
    pentium 4 HT 3.4ghz
    512mb ddr sdram
    6600 pci - e

    any ideas?

p.s. if you need any more specs just ask, i figured those were the most important

Im not sure, but i think with 200 pounds, you could get 2 gig of ram and a 7900gs. Which would definately let you play all high with no lag.

only thing about that would be if i eventually upgraded to dual core then i wouldnt be able to use that 2 gig of ram right?

otherwise i would definitely do that..

do you have a job or something that will get you more money?

The problem with a situation like this is that you ought to get a new videocard, and then you would need more memory to take full advantage of that new video card, but then you'd be paying a bit of a premium price for the dying DDR standard of memory, which you won't be able to carry over into your next build. Doing anything with this setup seems like a waste of money to me, but if you really want to upgrade something, I would go for either a 7600gt (which can be found at overclockers.co.uk for £80 or so) or a 7900gs (much better but at £120) and 1gb of memory (£70).

Plus, you would be buying a DX9 card when DX10 should be coming out relatively soon.
