So I got my xfi xtrememusic card, any tips?

The technicians are going to install it for me free of charge.
I need to know what type of drivers I should download, umm and anything else I should be aware of. I havent bought new speakers yet so right now I have crappy 5 year old speakers. I hope this doesnt screw me up later? Suggestions and tips welcome! ) :) Thanks for all your help :p

Well, if you have a tech installing it he should be doing the drivers also. It should work fine when you get it back. What speaker set up are you thinking of? 2.1, 5.1, 7.1 ?

Well, if you have a tech installing it he should be doing the drivers also. It should work fine when you get it back. What speaker set up are you thinking of? 2.1, 5.1, 7.1 ?

What's the difference between those? What do they mean anyway? :)

Just the speaker setup. 2.1 is a left and right with a subwoofer. 5.1 is surround sound, two speakers front right/left, two rear speakers right/left, and a center front speaker. 7.1 just adds to that with middle speakers on the left and right I believe.

IMHO 7.1 is overkill and just invented by hardware companies for more revenue. But 5.1 is nice, especially if you also have a nice display and watch movies on your PC; it's like home theater for your PC gaming. I just have a quality 2.1 myself as my system is in a spot that makes it a pain to have the wires to the rear speakers (although they have wireless speakers now). I can still hear sound positionally as footsteps come up behind me, or a jeep drives by on the left or right. It's good enough for me.
