Upgrading/New Comp

Know this has been discussed.

But with new games coming out you need the comp to run it how you want it.

I was going to wait for DX10, but thats going to take forever like a year or 2, pointless. So im probly best just upgrading. Like a 7900GT and 2GB of RAM, thoughts?

your right 2 gb of ram and a 7900 gt will do you fine

i wouldnt even waste my money on a 7950 even if dx10 was coming out as dual 7900gt's would beat the 7950 for less then a single 7950 would cost

Yeah but what I mean is. It is obvious how you buy a graphics card and a new one comes out the next month, its going to happen. But a revolution, or a next generation. DX9 to DX10.

The question is buy a DX9 card or wait for the DX10 cards? will the DX9 card such as the 7900GT be as good as the DX10 card?

If you can wait I would hold until the DX10 cards. The DX10 capable cards will be the cards of next gen. Unless your looking to buy a budget card the new DX10 cards will out perform the old ones.

not necessarily. try turning on SM3 (HDR) in oblivion at 1280x1024 with medium eye candy on an x1600xx or a 7600xx. S l i d e s h o w...even though these are technically more advanced cards, than (say) an x850/800xt or 6800gt.

Personally, I'd look for a good deal on one (maybe later, two) 7900's or x1900xt's and let DX10 get some age, some games, and fewer initial bugs into it before spending a boat load on a card that says DX10. But, I always look to get the maximum value and not necessarily that last 10% performance bump.

if u do buy a dx9 card right now
buy a 7600 gt and then wen dx10 comes out
buy the r600 (ATI's dx10 card) or the G80 (nvidia's dx10 card)

or if u want to get a better card then the 7600GT get like a 7800GT
