Please give me you educated guess!!!

    I have...

Intel 2.0 Ghz OCed @ 2.6 Ghz Socket 478 533MHz Pro 512 Cache NO HT
    Asus P4800 SE Motherboard
    1x 1gb Samsung DDR 400 MHz
    1 X 512Mb Samsung DDR 400 Mhz
    1 X 512mb Samsung DDR 400 Mhz
    Asus N6600 AGP 8X 128 Meg Video 300Mhz Eng 550MHz Mem
Maxtor 60Gb IDE 7200 RPM 8 Meg Cache
    SoundBlaster live 5.1 Sound
    Enermax 550 PSU

    Few Questions
will I notice a difference in game if I...

    current from a 2.0 @ 2.6 533 Mhz 478 NO HT
Upgrade to a 3.0E 800 Mhz 478 with HT and same board

    current IDE 60Gb 7200 RPM
upgrade to SATA 80Gb 150mbit's 8 Mb CacheDrive

Drive I would buy like ASAP and CPU maybe in a month or so although I am thinking I can get the same board with socket 775 processor will that help?

I dont want to spend money if i wont gain performance and stability I know my video is not that great.... I could get a 6800 if I sell the parts

I've got the same board and cpu, and also 2GB ram. I've got a 6800GT . I'm running everything on high with 4x anti aliasing and max distance etc.
    Looks great.

The 3.0E prescott might make bf2 run a little faster; I have one and I had an asus p4m-800mx before a dying psu smoked the mobo. It will definitely help out in more CPU-intensive games like RTS's, and those based on the Source engine (the physics of throwing things around taxes the processor).

A hd with a larger cache will decrease the loading/verifying client time. Hard to say how much, but just for kicks I had (at one time) installed bf2 to an old 7200rpm fujitsu 19gb w/512mb cache...and it would sometimes take half-a-round to get in the game.

it's difficult to justify dropping ~$170 (current prices on a 6800gt) on an lower-end agp gpu. For another $130, you could have a dual-core pentium D, a new mobo compatible with both ddr (your memory) and ddr2 AND will support Core 2 if you decide to upgrade, and a gpu that will play bf2 on medium/high. see post number 6 in this thread:
